On-Campus Party

This is Sophie
Last night an organization on campus hosted a party that I helped work at for a bit.  It was in gatehouse and people from off campus were invited.  As I walked up the stairs leading into the room I could feel the heat push against my body, it was an immediate sweat that couldn't be escaped.  There were a lot of people in the dark room, many of whom do not go to Wagner.
I sat at the door for a bit to collect money and as I did so I did a lot of people-watching.  It was really interesting and yet at times an uncomfortable atmosphere to be a part of.  No lights were on so all I could see were the outlines of bodies moving against each other.  There was a DJ at the party, so popular music was being played and it was really loud.
I chose to write about this for our pleasure blog because parties are supposed to be fun, but some of the things I saw going on seemed to be pleasure that would not be acceptable in other public areas.  I wondered why some people were dancing the way there were, if they really enjoyed it or if they were attempting to attract the attention of others.
I questioned what exactly drives people to do certain things that are often considered inappropriate.  Did these people feel comfortable in this atmosphere or did certain individuals push the boundaries until the rest followed?
