This is Jamie.
I decided to go to the Museum of Sex with my ex-boyfriend a few weekends ago. Before I’m judged, I would like to preface this by saying that I had heard of the museum for a while now and he happens to enjoy art and history as much as I do so I did not think it’d be a terrible idea to go together.
Anyway, I was slightly unimpressed. The first room took us to the media portion of sex and how pornographic films have evolved. Different screens filled the room with naked actors moaning and groaning. I must admit it was slightly awkward standing in a room of strangers and wanting to laugh at the people who were pretending to actually read the signs posted an inch away from the naked visuals. Then I wondered, “what if someone thinks I’m not really reading, but looking at the nudes?!” Well, it’s the price you pay for coming to such a risqué establishment. Then again, maybe I was just being paranoid.
The next room was all about Rubbers and their fun history. There was some really cool artwork and I saw life size Barbie dolls that were only a personality short of being a real human being.
My favorite room was the Sex Lives of Animals exhibit. This was absolutely fascinating. The panda porn was great because it showed bears doing things that everyone has been so sure that humans made up. These bears were really getting into foreplay and I wouldn’t be surprised if one threw rose petals all over the cave. I took some funny pictures and if the museum taught me anything, it’s that sex is natural and normal and NOTHING to be ashamed of, therefore, (while I hope my picture does not offend), I think it is a nice addition to my post.
