This is Jamie.
MTV’s Jackass 3D came out in movie theaters this weekend. I have been patiently waiting and finally got myself to the movies with a few good friends from my hometown. After two different theater staff members checked each of our I.D.’s we got to watch my favorite idiots hurt themselves in a variety of hysterical ways…in 3D, of course.
I truly could not say what it is that I love the most about this group of guys. Perhaps it’s the way they became famous in the first place. They had started video-taping different stunts and just goofing around. It began as a show on MTV and then grew to the theaters with Jackass The Movie and Jackass 2. The new movie was equally hilarious and I am not ashamed to say I think so. What is so funny about people getting hurt? Why do we like to watch these kinds of shows?
It’s always been a common theme in media entertainment. Someone gets hurt and stands back up, the audience knows it’s okay to laugh and in fact, it’s greatly enjoyable to laugh at such a sight. Even kids have laughed at the Coyote Wolf when he gets run over by the Road Runner. As soon as his flattened body pops out to normal again, everybody gets a laugh. Jackass definitely takes this concept to the extreme but I believe it’s the same type of humor that was enjoyed in the Looney Tunes.
Personally, I think Jackass is hilarious. Bam Margera, Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, Wee-man, and the rest of their crew are a bunch of guys having a really good time. Every minute of the movie shows them all having a lot of fun and laughing at each other’s expense. It might not be everyone’s taste in humor but it certainly is mine. Their outrageous stunts, outfits, attitudes and pranks are unique and jaw-dropping. Those guys just make me crack up. This movie was so incredibly funny! People were spitting popcorn out of their mouths. If you're into this sorta stuff (and I stress that it is NOT for the weak-stomached), GO SEE IT!
