Cold Stone Ice Cream

Melissa  here:

On Thursday I went to Cold Stone creamery with a few friends of mine. They were having a promotion that if you visited their stores between five and eight you got a free scoop of one of their new flavors. In exchange for this scoop of ice cream they asked that Cold Stone patrons donate one dollar to the make a wish foundation. My friends and I gladly received our free scoop of ice cream and each donated one dollar to a good cause. I would now like to stress the fact again that we received one free scoop of ice cream, only one.

After we each finished our singular scoop of ice cream, we all had a urning for more . We began to turn towards each other, checking to see who was going to talk about this shared desire first. Jokes began to fly about how we were acting as fat people and how we should just buy an entire cake and attack it with multiple forks. We figured if we only bought one more fattening item, even though it was a large cake, it would not be as bad as buying multiple fat producing items. The ice cream was then declared sinful and very desirable. The decision was ours to make, stick to our diets or recede into madness and consume more devilish ice cream.

We ate our will power (mine went straight to my thighs). One by one we each approached the counter with our heads held down to order more ice cream. "Like it size Coffee Lovers Only, Like it size Chocolate cake batter with cookie dough mix ins, Like it size Key Lime Pie...." the orders went on. We had all ordered more ice cream.... except one. She claimed that she was satisfied with her single scoop. No one believed her. This made the rest of us feel even worse until she began attacking all of our ice cream with her spoon. It was a beautiful moment shared between friends.

The little asian woman behind the counter watched us as we shamefully demolished our ice cream in front of her very eyes. She was judging us with every scoop that entered our mouthes. We almost repressed our desire for more ice cream because society would judge us for consuming so much dessert. When we left the Cold Stone we felt content with our ice cream choices but then realized soon after that there is a reason why people don't eat that much ice cream in one sitting. The creamery was an experience, I don't know if it was worth it to act on our desires, but what do you think?
