American television personality Khloe Kardashian, best known for her role in the reality series "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" with her sisters Kim and Kourtney, was in the news recently for her take on sex. With her recent appearance on "The View", Khloe began promoting her new book titled "Kardashian Konfidential." She then began to speak about her first sexual experience as a 14-year-old with her secret boyfriend who was 18-years-old at the time. She described her experience as being conned into it because of the age difference and the pressure she felt. This pressure stemmed from her belief that she would not be perceived as "cool" if she did not perform the act.

The relationship that Khloe was in at the time was forbidden by her parents, so she was doing everything with him in secret. After having sex with this man, she felt disgusted with herself and eventually stopped talking to him. She did not have sex for the next three years with anyone because she still felt she was not ready for it. Khloe's advice from this experience is "Little girls, or teenagers, my sisters, need to know- don't let anybody pressure you, its not worth it."

This piece in the news of Khloe Kardashian shows yet another example of pleasure's condemnation in the news and in politics. Although Khloe is discussing sex in regards to younger girls and those who are not ready, it still is a negative campaign. There is also the factor of having this secret relationship, forbidden from her parents, showing yet again another example of a negative stereotype of performing pleasurable acts, but in secret. Why does it need to be secret? Why do these acts need to be forbidden? Being pressured into sex is one thing, but having a nice and loving experience with sex is quite another. This positive side of sex is something that Khloe does not even mention, proving that only negative aspects of pleasure are focused on in the media.
